Forum Welcomes Heather Shapter as Chair of the Forum Board

Forum is delighted to announce Heather Shapter, Executive Director of Crossroads International, as the next Chair of the Board of Forum. We are excited to welcome a Chair whose wide breadth of skills, experience at Board and Chair level, strategic vision and values will add so much to Forum as we begin the next chapter of our work together.

Heather’s experience in the non-profit sector began when she founded her first NGO at the age of 17, and has gone on to encompass leadership roles across CARE Canada, BRAC in Bangladesh, Save the Children USA in Haiti, Prosper Canada and Global Impact. In the private sector, Heather led the NGO division of Bluedrop Learning Networks, and she has also run an international consulting practice for many years focused on leadership development and leveraging organisational culture for breakthrough results.

We hope you will join us in warmly welcoming Heather to the role.

Stephen Goodman, CEO of Volunteer Service Abroad and Co-Chair of Forum’s Standards Working Group was elected Vice Chair.

As he moves on from Forum and from AVI, we are grateful to Paul Bird for the enormous contribution he has made to our network as Chair of the Board. Paul’s vision, leadership and energy has propelled Forum forward and he leaves on a high following a very successful IVCO 2020.

Finally we acknowledge the exceptional contribution that Jean-Daniel Balme has made to Forum over his six years on the Board, and wish him well in the future.
