Rural Women’s Network Nepal (RUWON Nepal)
RUWON Nepal is an autonomous non government social organisation, working for the rights and social justice of women, youth and children in Nepal. In 2007, the organisation was registered in the district administration office, Sindhuli, with the NGO Federation Nepal, and the Internal Revenue office, Janakpur. In addition, it has undertaken affiliation from the Social Welfare Council, Nepal. Though RUWON is a young organisation, it has already implemented a number of projects across the country, with the majority being located in the districts of Sindhuli and Kathmandu.
RUWON Nepal supports women from excluded, marginalised, and disadvantaged communities to achieve sustainable and equitable development through social inclusion, advocacy and empowerment. Further, RUWON works for the rights of children and youth. Through creating forums for discussion, education, and awareness, the organisation aspires to build the capacity of children and youth to actively participate in the development of the country. Sustainable peace and democracy are central to RUWON's philosophy and corresponding programs.
RUWON Nepal coordinates International volunteers from Sweden, France, Australia, the UK, Canada, USA, Italy, the Netherlands and China. International volunteers work with RUWON Nepal on the following; teaching children in RUWON Nepal home for orphans; working on child rights projects in 16 different government schools in Kathmandu; the creation of new projects related to children, young people and women; and directly with RUWON Nepal on fundraising or relationship development.
