Profile: The "Learning and Assisting Overseas" Association (Arbeitskreis "Lernen und Helfen in Übersee" - AKLHÜ) is a network of 24 German organisations involved in recruitment for development cooperation, voluntary community services and extra-curricular youth and education activities. AKLHÜ acts as a networking and information agency as well as forum for discussion and supports the exchange of experiences. It was founded in 1962 with the aim to promote a development service that is based on a comprehensive understanding of social and peace building service. AKLHÜ advises people interested in working abroad as a professional in the field of development co-operation or as an international volunteer. AKLHÜ manages a large database that contains job and project opportunities for professionals in the sector of development co-operation and for volunteers in various sectors world-wide.
