The New Narrative Project was designed to support the Gates Foundation and its partners in developing and refining communications with key stakeholders about global development programs, issues and priorities. It was executed via a multi-phase research program executed across the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. The research included a detailed exploration of how publics in each of these markets thought about development programs, the language they used, and understand why individuals did or did not support development programs. The research also featured an online quantitative survey in each market that provided representative, projectable measures of the effectiveness of candidate narratives. Results from the research allowed the Foundation to identify the optimal communication framework for driving support for international develop programs across engaged audiences in donor markets.
